VIZ 4.0 Global Illumination – How to setup an Interior Scene for Daylight

by: Jan Ray Brookes

Revised 07.04.02

This tutorial is relevant to converting an existing project or preparing a new project for Global Illumination.  In this exercise we will explore how your existing models need to be prepared in order to process a radiosity solution.   We will place a daylight system, manipulate some materials and make convincing water for a pool as a bonus but that’s not all! We will also use an Omni light to fake caustics from the pool. I hope you find this useful and feel free to contact me if you have any further questions J

I’m sorry this has taken so long for me to produce.  I’ve been quite busy and I really didn’t give myself a deadline.   –So what do you want for free anyway?  Frankly, I doubt I’ll be able to get to all the other tutorials anytime soon.   I’ve decided against writing a camera match tutorial, because after some review, I’ve decided that the online tutorial is very well written.   I am writing tutorials by demand.   If I receive enough inquires about a particular topic I will write it.   There are so many wonderful resources online now, I’m not sure how much value I’m adding.   Check out Viz2000 web-site, it’s a fantastic resource for information and has links for virtually every learning web-site available today.

Much thanks to Ismael for his invaluable contribution and support!
